Handicap Pairs – Well done Merryn and Linda winners of our May competition with 77.58%.

Slam Hands – Two this week, four pairs bidding the slam on board 1 and twelve pairs bidding slams on board 20.

Board 20 should have been easy for all to bid surely? When holding 22 hcp South will have the pleasant surprise of partner opening the bidding with 1 club and repeat them when South makes a simple 1 diamond raise. South will now be considering slam and after checking on kings will bid 6NT.

Directors Gripe Corner yet again– Please HELP, again travellers marked and then put in the wrong boards from the start of the evening. It would save me much time and telephone calls trying to sort out the problem if just a little more care is taken.

Also, when we moved for the last round we reminded you to remove travellers from the boards but one was left in the board which got missed when they were collected and collated; more telephone calls and Carolyn out to the car to search the boards in her negligee in the early morning!!
